Summer Splash 2028: British Virgin Islands

YachtXP: British Virgin Islands (February 2028)

The British Virgin Islands offer effortless island-hopping with steady trade winds, protected waters, and legendary beach bars. Picture-perfect anchorages await at Rosewood Little Dix Bay, The Baths’ granite boulder maze, the rebuilt Bitter End Yacht Club, Oil Nut Bay’s chic Nova, and Jost Van Dyke’s white-sand beaches. Anegada, the outlier coral atoll, rewards the adventurous with endless flats and its famous lobster feasts.

A single unified start in Tortola means everyone begins together on Thursday. From there we set an easy loop that balances world-renowned highlights with hidden gems, all without long overnight passages.

Important: This route includes a rare two-night stay in Anegada — the first at anchor off Sid’s Pomato Point for sunsets over the horizon, the second secured on a mooring for the island’s iconic lobster dinner. We’ve also timed Jost Van Dyke for a Monday arrival, when the crowds thin and White Bay feels like it belongs only to us.

Our itinerary blends iconic landmarks with more intimate stops: snorkel the caves of Norman Island, sip espresso at Cooper Island’s craft rum bar, dive the wreck of the RMS Rhone near Salt Island, and stretch out on the pristine beaches of Peter Island.

Iconic Stops:

Rosewood Little Dix Bay, The Baths, Bitter End Yacht Club, Oil Nut Bay’s Nova, Anegada’s Horseshoe Reef, Jost Van Dyke’s White Bay, Norman Island caves, Salt Island’s RMS Rhone, Cooper Island, and Peter Island.

Unified Start:

The entire group boards Thursday in Tortola, sailing together from the very first day. No staggered arrivals or split preludes — the camaraderie begins immediately.

Adventure + Comfort:

Snorkel coral gardens teeming with turtles, beach hop between secluded coves, and relax in upscale marinas with boutique restaurants. Dine on chef-prepared lobster under the stars in Anegada, or enjoy fresh conch fritters and painkillers on a barefoot beach.

Relaxed Pace:

Cruising legs average 1–3 hours, leaving plenty of time for swimming, paddleboarding, and shore exploration. Even our longer sail to Anegada is offset by two nights there, so you can immerse fully in island life.

What’s Included:

Your spot aboard a modern catamaran with a professional skipper. Charter fee only. Excludes provisioning, fuel, park/mooring fees, customs/immigration, and optional activities or meals ashore.

  • Final morning is disembarkation in Tortola after a short hop from Peter Island, making airport transfers smooth and simple.
  • Bring reef-safe sunscreen, light layers for breezy evenings, polarized sunglasses for spotting reefs, and a soft-sided duffel bag for easy stowage aboard.
  • Cash (USD) is widely accepted — handy for beach bars, taxis, and lobster shacks.
  • Expect daytime temps in the low 80s with steady trade winds — ideal for easy sailing and comfortable nights at anchor.

BVI FAQ

When is the actual group start?

Everyone is together starting **Saturday, March 29** in **Tortola** (base marina in Road Town). Arrivals should plan to be on the island by the afternoon. Boats will depart the next morning.

Do we return to Tortola?

Yes. The trip is a round-trip itinerary that begins and ends in **Tortola**. Disembarkation is on **Saturday, April 5**, in time to make afternoon flights or ferries.

What’s included in the YachtXP price?

Charter fee only. Excludes provisioning, fuel, customs/immigration, national park fees (e.g., The Baths, Virgin Gorda), optional excursions, and gratuities.

How does booking & cabin sharing work?

When you sign up, you’re reserving a spot on one of our crewed boats. Each boat has **4 cabins**, and the cost is split evenly among the people on board. A cabin sleeps **two people** (shared bed), so the per-person cost is based on half a cabin. The **final trip amount** will be confirmed once we know which boat you’ll be on and how many people are sharing. The boat portion is billed separately from your personal expenses like food or activities.

What about a security deposit?

Each boat has a €5,000 (or ~$5,500) security deposit. This is typically handled as a credit card authorization or via the charter company’s standard process.

Are mooring or marina fees included?

No. Mooring balls in the BVIs are ~$40–$60 per night. Expect to pick up mooring balls at popular anchorages like Cooper Island, Norman Island, and Anegada. Marina nights are optional and paid separately.

Do the boats have air conditioning?

This varies boat to boat, please request it if you'd like it. It usually increases the cost by about $100 per person for the week.

Will provisioning be handled for us?

We are **not** doing full provisioning for all boats. If your boat is interested, you can opt into our group menu plan. We will also provide our sample menu and shopping list so you can self-provision easily.

Are there customs or park fees?

Yes. There are national park fees (e.g., The Baths, The Indians, Anegada). Customs/immigration fees apply only if visiting outside the BVIs (not expected on this itinerary).

Late-March conditions?

Steady 10–18 kt trade winds, warm turquoise water, short passages with line-of-sight navigation. Pack a light spray jacket, sun protection, and reef-safe sunscreen.
